Breaching the Rift
Breaching the Rift is a miniature based Skirmish Game based in the Breaching the Rift Sci-fi universe. The rules are FREE to download from the Gydran Studio website along with an option to buy a digital copy if you want to help support the project and keep it moving forward. There will also be an expanded version with the background to the universe in future versions of the rules.
Breaching the Rift is a passion for us, and something that we want to explore and tell stories from the universe. This story world has been created over the last 28+ years and the miniature world of table top games is a perfect setting for us to continue exploring the worlds and the denizens that exist and live therein. From deep within the borders of the Rygel Consortium to the fringes of Mir-Aigne space. There is always a story to tell and frontiers to explore.
Stalvan took in a deep breath. The air was acrid and full of dust. For those just getting in off the transports your first intake of the air leaves a nasty taste in your throat after the initial coughing fit. For her, though, it had become the norm. She could already feel the heavy deposits forming after what seemed like a lifetime of digging away, maintaining the mechs and checking for tunnel integrity. Her engineer brain had done the calculations many times only to come out with the single irrefutable outcome. She would die here. Even before the tragedy of Shift 9 it was inevitable, but now… now everything had changed, and war had made its way to the fringes. Dweorg now faced down their own kin and the flame ignited in the heart of all on Halgrims Paradise would not be tempered. The Consortium had to learn that this was not the way they were willing to live any more. That their planet would be free from the shackles that held every man woman and child down.
Stalvan exhaled a long drawn out breath. The sounds around her started to come into focus. The light munition rounds of the rifles taken from the militia stores zipped through the air. She could see the inbound Elsor-Varo drop ships speeding in, to land and release their cargo of mechanised suited warriors within. She stared down at her reinforced welding helmet for a second before donning it for the second time that day. She would die here, she thought to herself, but she would be damned if it were today. She gripped her shield with her left hand and raised her plasma launcher high above her head. She let out a scream that was joined by a chorus of miners and engineers. “For the fallen!” she shouted. “For Halgrims Paradise!”
