Breaching the Rift is released!

That’s right, after years of working on it and countless setbacks including the Pandemic and having  dedicated Breaching the Rift domain hacked, it is finally released into the wild. It feels like its been a long time coming, but now it’s actually here and you can download it on the store.

What is Breaching the Rift?

Breaching the Rift is a 1:56 scale (28mm) table top skirmish wargame where teams vie against each other to achieve their set goals. It is based in a science fiction universe of the same name that has been in development in one form or another since 1996 with the first short story written as a part of a college project by creator John “Howrith” Bryan. From there it continued to grow with races, worlds, stories and universe changing events that sets the stage for the current conflicts and adventures.

You get to play one of the four factions (at the time of writing this only two factions are available to play in V1-230624) in the current version of the game. Though not all the miniatures in our range are currently included in the rule set they will become available to play as the rules are updated and expanded upon.

So, what are you waiting for. Go and download the free rules, today. Join us as we expand upon the rich universe and take the steps towards Breaching the Rift.

Corridor – Animation

Corridor is an animated short set in the world of Breaching the Rift, a long standing personal project of mine and the basis for the science fiction miniature range that has been created since the  inception of Gydran Studio. The story is set after the events of the book, Shadow Raid,  and follow a completely new crew as they fumble about in the vastness of space.

STORYBOARDS

A storyboard to demonstrate the current state of the animatic.
A Pugwanian character struggles against an alien menace. Storyboard 52 from the readthrough.

Currently the story is in the planning phase, and at the time of writing this post I am creating storyboards to put against the readthrough of the script to check the stories pacing. As I am doing this alongside my full-time job I have had to set realistic deadlines and all storyboards should be finished by December 3rd 2023.

I am currently running regular updates on my Patreon page and I’m ahead of schedule at the moment (as of 02-11-2023). So, as long as I keep up the pace I should have this phase complete before the deadline.
